+ Provide HVAC Contractor Checklist

Credentialed HVAC contractor has prepped and signed HVAC checklist and related documents prior to final inspection.

Prominent issues on the HVAC contractor checklist include:

Section 1 -Whole house ventilation report, Item 1.3, must be provided by HVAC contractor. (Horizon RES can provide this service for a fee)

Section 2 – All applicable items signed off, Item 2.18 – Accurate load calcs. must be provided before final inspection.

Section 3 – All applicable items signed off, Item 3.13 – AHRI certificate. must be provided before final inspection.

Section 4 – When applicable, Manufacturers performance information required. (Field testing of the geothermal heat pump will be required)

Section 5 – When applicable, Manufacturers performance information required.

Section 6 – Required for conventional AC split systems.

Section 7 – Required for conventional AC split systems. Item 7.10 required for ground source heat pumps.

Section 8 – Required for conventional AC split systems.

Section 9 – Required for all air ducted heating or cooling systems.

Section 10 -Balancing report is required for all air ducted heating or cooling systems..

+ Provide Water Management System Builder Checklist

ENERGY STAR builder partner has prepped and signed Water Management checklist prior to final inspection.

Prominent issues on the Water Management checklist include:

Section 1 -Exterior grades sloped, Capillary breaks under interior concrete slabs present, foundations damp proofed, Drain Tiles (footing drains) sloped to daylight or equivalent, present. Please review.

Section 2 – Exterior wall flashings. Please review

Section 3 – Step and kick out flashings where required by checklist. Roof rainwater drain away systems (rain gutters, downspouts or equivalent per footnotes). Ice and water shield where required. Please review

Section 4 – Review for interior moisture trouble spots.



  • VARIOUS DOCUMENTS YOU’LL NEED TO PROVIDE PRIOR TO OR AT FINAL INSPECTION SITE VISIT.

    a) Signed HVAC contractors checklist

    b) Ventilation report from HVAC contractor (Horizon can do this for a nominal fee)

    c) AHRI equipment matching documentation from HVAC contractor.

    d) Signed Testing and Balancing report from HVAC contractor

    e) Signed Water Management System Builders checklist.

Provide proof or arrange for return visit by Horizon RES to verify any deficiencies found at original final construction site inspection.
