  • Unitil

  • NHSaves (NH Wide Utility Efficiency Program)

A Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® residential energy audit is specifically designed for homeowners who are looking for a clear picture of exactly what the causes and solutions are to their home energy performance and comfort problems.  Certified Building Performance Institute (BPI)  installation contractors will conduct home energy audits to determine what home performance measures would be cost effective to conduct at your home.

    • Create a more comfortable home

    • Energy audits identify trouble spots like mold / mildew recurrence and ice dams.

    • Increase the energy efficiency of your home

How does the Home Performance with Energy Star Program Work?

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® is a comprehensive, whole house approach to improving energy efficiency and comfort at home, while reducing your energy costs and helping the environment.

Your NHSaves utility partners offer meaningful incentives of up to $6,000 in rebates on overall improvement costs.

After ensuring that you qualify and have properly enrolled in the program, there is a $100 cost for your home’s energy audit which will be due on the day of the audit. Once you have had had your audit, the energy auditor will comprise a work proposal that he/she believes will benefit your home most. If you choose to go forward with the work, that initial $100 will be included in the rebate that you receive.

If this is a program that you would be interested in, please continue to read below to find out about the qualification process.

First, you must see if you qualify. To do so, visit www.nhsaves.com/hpwes

From there on, scroll down until you see a button that says “Test Your Home”, or go directly to: energyaudit.nhsaves.com

Once there you will be able to access NHSave’s Home Heating Index Tool.

What is the Home Heating Index Tool (HHI Tool)?

The HHI Tool is a calculator designed by NHSaves to calculate the energy efficiency of your home. It takes your fuel usage (1-2 years’ worth), your livable square footage, and your area to give you your Home Heating Index Score.

To qualify, you must receive an 8 or greater on the HHI scale.

My HHI score was an 8 or greater

Great! That means you qualify. The HHI Tool will give you access to the Home Performance with Energy Star enrollment form. Once filled out, it will give you the option to either digitally submit, or the ability to print it out so it can be mailed to the specified address on the form.

My home received less than a score of 8

Unfortunately then, you do not qualify for this program. However, there may be less comprehensive programs that your utility may offer, such as the Visual Audit. If you are not sure, feel free to give us a call.
